ImageA Eurovision Summer 2017:  The Summer of 2017 is drawing to a close and Radio International wants to keep Eurovision music in the ears of the many fans around the Eurovision World in a very special way. The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 took place in Kyiv's International Exhibition Centre, Ukraine on 09 & 11 May 2017 with the two Semi Finals and the Grand Final on Saturday, 13 May 2017. Congratulations go to Salvador and Luisa Sobral for winning the Eurovision Song Contest for Portugal for the very first time with the song "Amar pelos dois (Love for both of us)". Enjoy and let's look forward as - the next Eurovision is around the corner, in fact 08, 10 and 12 May 2018 from the Arena MEO in Lisabon, Portugal as recently announced. :)
 
ImageHolidaying Eurovision Radio International - New Releases:  Most members of the team of Radio International are on their well-earned summer vacation and for the remaining editions of Eurovision Radio International during the month of September 2017 the shows have a different format. So special programmes are being broadcast for the next three editions. In the first hour of each week's show JP plays a selection of the best new releases by Eurovision artists during the summer of 2017. David Mann takes over in the second hour this week to continue with roughly the same.
 
Image The Eurovision Champion Chart - Russia:  The Eurovision Champion Chart is produced by Craig Mitchell Johnstone in conjunction with the Face Book Group "Eurovision Champions". On selected Shows Eurovision Radio International produces various one hour or two hour shows with the music of the Eurovision Champion Chart as voted for by the fans of Eurovision. The Eurovision Champion Chart this week runs down the entries from Russia to the Eurovision Song Contest in the order how the fans voted for the songs. What is the best song from Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest? He also takes a look at some statistics such as viewing figures in the various countries and more. Nathan is website editor with escxtra.com. ImageThe OGAEvision Song Contest 2017 (Radio version):  Radio International's David Mann looks back at the OGAEvision Song Contest 2017 in Berlin, Germany in the second and third hour of the show. The OGAEvision Song Contest is part of the Berlin Eurovision Weekend which took place in July 2017. The Top 3 of the singing contest won the prize to be performing on the OGAE Finland Eurovision Cruise which was held on 02 September 2017.  Enjoy reliving the contest and David's coverage of the event and hear those talents as well on the radio.

Image Interview with Rui Andrade (Russia 2014, Backing Vocalist and National Finalist 2011, 2012 and 2014): After three attempts in the Portuguese National Final in 2011, 2012 and 2014 Rui Andrade finally made it to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 but not for Portugal but being backing vocalist in the Russian entry performed by the former Junior Eurovision Winners for Russia in 2016 when the Tolmachevy Twins performed the song "Vesna".  Rui Andrade had three attempts in the Portuguese National Final called Festival da Cancao trying to get the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest. In all three occasions he came third. In 2011 with "Em Nome do Amor", "Amor a preto e branco" in 2012 and "Ao teu encontro" in 2014. On 06 September 2017 Rui has released a new song entitled "Confia Em Mim (Know me better)" which is also a song from the album by Fabrizio Faniello.(Malta 2001 and 2006). Rui will be chatting with JP live on this week's edition of Radio International about the new release of the song and the video but also Radio International and the fans want to know if Rui will be playing a role in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 coming from Lisbon in 2018.  You can hear this interview on this week's edition of Radio International.Further information about Rui and the new song can be viewed here.
 
Image Interview with Valentina Monetta and Jimmie Wilson (San Marino 2017):  San Marino first participated at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 but since then never managed to qualify for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest until 2014 when Valentina Monetta in her third consecutive attempt passed from the Semi Final with the song "Maybe" written by Mauro Ballestri and composed by Ralph Siegel. In the Grand Final it reached Number 24. The same team already tried it in 2012 with the "Socia Network Song" and also in 2013 with "Crisalide" which both failed to qualify for the Grand Final. In 2017, Valentina made a comeback to the stage of th Eurovision Song Contest with the help of Jimmie Wilson who was discovered by Ralph Siegel in Germany. The song was called "Spirit of the Night" which represented San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 unfortunately, only reaching Number 18 in Semi Final 2. Eugene and JP of Radio International met the singers in the Press Centre in Kiev. ImageInterview with Fusedmarc (Lithuania 2017):  Closing out the series of interviews from the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev, Ukraine the last interview left for broadcast is with Lithuania's successful selling band called Fusedmarc. The group represented Lithuania with the song "Rain of Revolution" which unfortunately, did only reach Number 17 in Semi Final 2 and with this not qualifying for the participation in the Grand Final. ImageEurovision Spotlight - The Show Starters at the Eurovision Song Contest:  As every year the Radio International Eurovision Experts were brainstorming what should be the summer feature during Eurovision Radio International throughout the summer of 2017 and the team thought let's reflect on the songs that started off the Eurovision Song Contest in each year. 62 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest were staged over the years and there has to be always the first song in the Running Order of the Eurovision Song Contest. Ross Bennett continues the series. It will be nice to hear some long forgotten classics again on the show in the weeks to come.  
 
ImageEurovision Under Cover:  This ever so popular feature on Radio International is David Mann's weekly edition of the Eurovision Cover Versions where David Mann from Eurovision Norwich will be intoducing some of the finest Eurovision Song Contest entries covered by other singers. Just be surprised. You will be hearing the actual song that has been on the Eurovision stage followed by the cover. Listeners are encouraged to send in their cover versions they came across over the years to share with the other fans tuning into the show. Alternatively, listeners can send in their request for a particular Eurovision covered song using this link.

The show is in collaboration with many Music Companies that supply Radio International with the latest songs of their signed up artists to bring the muisc closer to the fans. On a weekly basis Radio International receives songs which are being featured on the show.

ImageEurovision Quiz:  Scratch your heads and bite your nails at  our weekly Eurovision Song Contest Quiz. Good luck and win a copy of a past Eurovision Song Contest Final on DVD or a dip into the Eurovision Goodies Bag. All you have to do is to identify the five clips with Artist, Song, Country and Year. Send your answers via the website's CONTACTs form. As for the quiz answers, you have two weeks time to crack the quiz after Radio International was aired live. That gives the chance for the listeners who were not able to join us live on Wednesdays to participate in the quiz and the draw for the prize. Good Luck! Image Live Interview with The Eurovision Cruise 2017 Organiser - Jouni Pihkakorpi:  It is just around the corner when the Eurovision Cruise takes place this weekend 02 & 03 September 2017 when the Silja Europa ferry cruise liner crosses the Baltic Sea from Helsinki to Tallin with over 2000 fans aboard plus two Eurovision Winners: Ruslana (Ukraine 2004) and Alexander Rybak (Norway 2009). Further the Sunstroke Project (Moldova 2017 and 2010) as well as Norma John (Finland 2017) and more. Radio International's JP is joined in the studio by prime organiser as well as President of OGAE Finland Jouni Pihkakorpi to chat about the event that now has been going on for many years. 
 
Image Interview with O Torvald (Ukraine 2017):  Slowly coming to an end are the interviews that theTeam of Radio International did during the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. The host nation was represented by O.Torvald who for the occasion of the Eurovision Song Contest performed a song for the very first time in English. Since Ukraine was the host of Eurovision 2017, the country is directly qualified for the Grand Final. There the song "Time" received 36 points and with that ranking at Number 24 at the end of the voting sequence. JP had the pleasure to chat with the lead vocalist of O.Torvald - Genia at the venue but as well as during a city tour of Kyiv. Listen to this interview on the show this week. Image Interview with Jana Burčeska (Macedonia 2017):  For the 5th year in a row Macedonia did not qualify for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest with the last one being Kaliopi with "Crno e Belo" in 2012 in Baku. This year Macedonia sent in young Jana Burčeska who performed the song "Dance alone" which received 69 points in Semi Final 2 ranking Macedonia at Number 15 in the Semi Final when only the Top Ten advance into the Grand Final. Radio International had the pleasure to chat with Jana during the rehearsal week in Kyiv. ImageA Eurovision Summer 2017:  The Summer of 2017 is underway and Radio International wants to keep Eurovision music in the ears of the many fans around the Eurovision World. The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 took place in Kyiv's International Exhibition Centre, Ukraine on 09 & 11 May 2017 with the two Semi Finals and the Grand Final on Saturday, 13 May 2017. Congratulations go to Salvador and Luisa Sobral for winning the Eurovision Song Contest for Portugal for the very first time with the song "Amar pelos dois (Love for both of us)". Enjoy and let's look forward as - the next Eurovision is around the corner, in fact 08, 10 and 12 May 2018 from the Arena MEO in Lisabon, Portugal as recently announced. :)
 
Image  Interview with Lenny Kuhr (Eurovision Winner 1969, The Netherlands):  End of June 2017 the Netherlands organised the first edition of "J' aime la Vlie" on the Dutch island Vlieland. Part of the guest line up was also one of the four Eurovision Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1969 - The Netherlands' representative Lenny Kuhr who together with Lulu from the United Kingdom, Frida Boccara from France and Salome from Spain received the same number of points at the end of the voting which lead to the announcement that the Eurovision Song Contest 1969 has four winners. The winning song was "De Troubadour" Lenny Kuhr was part of the event on Vlieland and JP from Radio International had the big pleasure to conduct an interview with the Eurovision Winner which you can hear on this week's edition of Radio International.
 
Image Interview with Karl William Lund (Host of EUROSTARZ 2017 in London):  This Saturday, 19 August 2017 saw the second edition of EUROSTARZ which is a new and upcoming Eurovision event in the heart of London, United Kingdom with many Eurovision artists performing at this event in London's Star of Kings, Kings Cross with the participation of Anne Marie David (Luxembourg 1973), Karl William Lund (NF 2016, United Kingdom), Anjeza Shahini (Albania 2004), Mihai Traistariu (Romania 2006), Kurt Calleja (Malta 2012) and Salena Mastroianni (NF 2017, United Kingdom). The host of the event was Karl William Lund who in 2016 competed in the national final of the United Kingdom with the song "Miracle" which was the OGAE UK's suggestion for Eurovision You Decide. Joe and Jake won the national final in 2016 and subsequently represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Karl joins JP live during the show to talk about the event and his upcoming projects.

Meanwhile Jalisse (Fabio and Alessandra) have been busy with many projects and new music plus supporting young talented artists as well as hosting their own radio show. ImageEurovision Spotlight - The Show Starters at the Eurovision Song Contest:  As every year the Radio International Eurovision Experts were brainstorming what should be the summer feature during Eurovision Radio International throughout the summer of 2017 and the team thought let's reflect on the songs that started off the Eurovision Song Contest in each year. 62 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest were staged over the years and there has to be always the first song in the Running Order of the Eurovision Song Contest. Dermot Manning continues the series next week. It will be nice to hear some long forgotten classics again on the show in the weeks to come.

Image Eurovision Weekend in Berlin 2017: The Eurovision Weekend in Berlin took place from Friday 14 - Sunday 16 July 2017. The event was partnered between OGAE Malta and OGAE Germany and international fans attended a fun weekend in Germany's capital. On the guest list were Kurt Calleja (Malta 2012), Claudia Faniello (Malta 2017) and the event is co-hosted by Glen Vella (Malta 2011). Further there was the runner up to the Germany National Selection "Unser Song 2017" - Axel Maximilian Feige. But also special guest is this year's Musical Ambassador to the Czech Republic: Martina Barta who performed the song "My Turn" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv. Over the coming weeks Radio International will broadcast interviews with the artists from this event but also listen out for interviews with the J'aime la Vlie 2017 artists on the show in the next weeks and the remaining interviews from Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv..

Image Interview with Martina Barta (Czech Republic 2017):  Last July the Berlin Eurovision Weekend 2017 and Martina Barta who represented the Czech Republic 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine was also part of the guest line up of the event organised by Eurovision Club and OGAE Germany as well as OGAE Malta. Marta gave an entire concert on Sunday lunchtime as part of the Sunday Brunch and also came to the official opening on Saturday afternoon where JP had the pleasure to interview Martina about her Eurovision particiation as well as her career and link to Berlin. Martina represented the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 reaching Number 13 in Semi Final 1 with the song "My Turn" and with this failed to qualify her country for the Grand Final. You can hear this interview on Radio International this week.
 
Image  Interview with Aarzemnieki (Latvia 2014):  The Dutch Eurovision event J'aime la Vlie 2017 took place end of June 2017 on the Dutch island Vlieland (details see above) and part of the line-up was Latvia's Musical Ambassadors Aarzemnieki who represented Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Cake to Bake" which came 13th in Semi Final 1 in Copenhagen's Ship Yard venue. Since 2014 the band reformed and three members of the band came to the Netherlands to be part of this event also to promote their music. JP had a pleasure again to chat with the crazy bunch of guys from Latvia, although none of them are Latvians :). You can hear this interview on Radio International this week.
